Traveling by bus from Washington, D.C., it took the St. John's Cadets 15 hours to arrive in East St. Louis on Friday. Once they got around to playing football, it took them about 15 minutes to experience the potency of the Flyers.
His name wasn't even in the program Friday night, but Belleville West kicker Kent Kobernus had the full attention of more than 3,000 fans at Lindenwood Stadium before it was all over.

Ric Johns grew up in Belleville and even though the Belleville West football coach used to play for Belleville East, he understands the meaning of the West-Althoff rivalry. He also doesn't have to be reminded that the Maroons have beaten Althoff only twice since 1988.
