  • Shiloh hosts 56th annual homecoming picnic

    The Village of Shiloh held its 56th annual homecoming picnic over the weekend in Shiloh Community Park.



    The celebration featured classic carnival rides and games, food, bands, a silent auction and raffle, fireworks Friday night and a small ABATE motorcycle show Saturday.

  • Historic farmhouse offered for $1 is demolished in Shiloh

    It could have been saved for a dollar. But, in the end, it wasn't financially feasible to save an 1860s vintage farmhouse from an ugly end.


    The house, built by David McFarland and later owned Michael Voellinger, is believed to have stood on the site since 1864. In just a couple of hours of carnage, it was only a memory.

  • Proposal for $15 million I-64 interchange nearly ready

    Project leaders believe St. Clair County soon will submit an application to the Federal Highway Administration to justify the construction of a $15 million, Interstate 64 interchange at Rieder Road east of O'Fallon.


    The St. Clair County Highway Department hosted an informational meeting Thursday at MidAmerica Airport to get public comments for the application and answer concerns of residents, St. Clair County Engineer Darrell Cates said.


    If approved, the new interchange would be built between Illinois 158 and Illinois 4 and provide a direct access on Wherry Road to the northeastern corner of Scott Air Force Base and a road for commercial traffic to MidAmerica Airport.

    One of the suspects in an armed robbery Wednesday morning at a Gas Mart in unincorporated St. Clair County near Shiloh has been charged with felony armed robbery and may be charged with two other crimes if he is found to be a convicted felon.
