Zia Nizami has worked at the News-Democrat since December 2000. He is a native of Glasgow, Scotland. Zia attended California State University, Fresno. He started his career at the Neighbors section of the Fresno Bee. In addition
to still photography he also produces video and audio slideshows for the
News-Democat Web site. A recent project entitled "Racer Chick" won an
honorable mention in the National Press Photographers Association’s Best of 2007 competition. In his spare time Zia enjoys reading, watching movies, and riding his motorbike.
